Planning to travel in Paris or the Île-de-France region?
Transport tickets are going digital. To simplify your journeys, mobile apps and rechargeable passes are now the norm. Follow our guide to discover these new ways to travel across the Île-de-France region with ease.
How to buy tickets: User Guide
The traditional paper ticket is being phased out in favor of a fully digital ecosystem.
- Since November 1, 2025, the sale of magnetic paper tickets has officially ceased across almost the entire network (ticket machines and ticket offices).
- Still have paper tickets? You can continue to use any remaining paper tickets until June 2026 on the rail network (Metro/RER).
- Between November 2025 and September 2026, you can exchange your old paper tickets for their digital equivalent on a Navigo Easy pass at any ticket counter.
► Buy and top up your tickets using the Île-de-France Mobilités app
Forget paper tickets, whether you use an iPhone or Android, your phone is now your only ticket. Tickets can be purchased directly through the Île-de-France Mobilités, Bonjour RATP, or SNCF Connect apps. No need to wait in line at the station!
► Buy and top up your tickets using the Navigo Easy pass
For those who do not wish to use their smartphone, the rechargeable Navigo Easy physical card (€2 to purchase) is the ideal support for your digital tickets. It is available at stations, either at the ticket counters or from the vending machines.

Children under 4 travel free of charge, provided they do not occupy a seat. Children under 10, as well as other eligible passengers, are entitled to reduced-fare tickets.
